The Origin of Soozalooza

 

The Early Years

 

Soozalooza began life as a typical member of a middle class, Canadian, pro-social family.  She could best be defined by the word average. She did not stand out from the crowd due to remarkable achievements or notable failures, her school days passed with her neither as part of the in nor the out-crowd and with grades worthy neither of proud celebration nor embarrassment and shame, she evoked neither envy and desire nor scorn and ridicule with her appearance, and her social life included enough activities and friendships to deem her upbringing normal and healthy, yet few enough that her parents had no cause to brag, she drew no admiration from peers, and was never the one others aspired to be.  She was average in intelligence, looks, and ability.  She blended in.

 


 

The Emergence of Soozalooza

 

The Transformative Years

 

There became a point when gradual change began for Soozalooza.  Though always prone to pessamistic and cynical thought, a negative outlook that manifested itself in her behaviour began to take hold.  What once could be explained as natural teenage angst turned into something no longer fit for a John Hughes movie.  Feelings of contempt for those around her grew.  She became open in her resentment when participating in the banal activities of day to day life and aggravated by those who pushed participation.  High school ended and
